Name: Ó Braonáin (Crow) Age: Immortal Sex: Female presenting Species: Fae Location: The Deep Woods, Eile Forest Profession: Omen Affiliations:Isla Morin Disposition: melancholic, resourceful, mysterious, fickle
Character Background and Description She is called Crow, for the fae do not give over their names. She is a shapeshifter who resides deep in the Forest, usually near the gates or bubbles that appear within it. Her usual form is that of a crow, hence her name, or of a willowy woman. Her appearance within that human form changes every time she shifts, only the inky blackness of her hair remains each time. Because she is only female presenting, she occasionally takes on the form of a man. She can transform into other animals besides birds, each form can be characterized by an almost void-like blackness. She is of the Shadow, a clan within the Fair Folk that are usually not seen on the island because of their mysterious and reclusive nature. Crow is believed to be a younger fae by those who come across her, curious in nature but volatile in emotions; she appears as quickly as she vanishes, leaving behind only a single black feather. People who receive this "gift" bring them back home with them, believing it can be a bad omen to ignore it.
Crow has begun venturing out of the Forest to explore more of the human areas; forestry has disrupted her home and made her restless and anxious. While she generally doesn't mean humans harm, she takes advantage of the superstitious nature of the island residents to scare them from her territory, aiding in the slow of the industry. She has an interest in music and will frequent some of the grunge shows of local bands. Not always recognized as a fae within the darkness of shows, the young adults have accepted her within their crowd, and she has begun to make some closer relationships.
One she considers a friend is Isla, a young woman who often hikes through the Forest. After Isla saved Crow's animal form from a foresting accident, the woman was given Crow's true name, Ó Braonáin, to show her respect and the life debt she owes. Isla calls her Ona, because to use her true name evokes power over Crow. Through her friendship with Isla, Crow is slowly being brought into the human world, exploring new contemporary events like live music performances and bars.
